Energy Ambassadors
(Grades 8 to 12)
Students leading conservation conversations! The Energy Ambassadors program empowers students to be not only leaders of the future, but leaders of today.
- Partnership between secondary school teams, school districts and BC Hydro
- Focuses on awareness, action and leadership
- Student teams identify areas for conservation and sustainable actions, and lead real change in both their own school and neighbourhood elementary schools
What is the Energy Ambassadors Program?
- Workshop One - Students learn about energy use, sustainability, leadership and project management
- Back at School - students implement awareness actions, complete a school energy audit, with continued contact from the BC Hydro coordinator who provides training, templates and ongoing project management
- Workshop Two - students review the outcomes of their action plans and begin to develop a presentation for the School Board of Education
- Culminating project - student teams highlight their actions, learnings and recommendations to the School Board of Education

Sponsor teachers and district mentors become engaged in meaningful ways with student teams while facilitating learning around energy conservation. Join other educators on FirstWave as you make waves with a program that truly goes beyond the walls of the school!

What's In it For Students
Students gain teamwork and leadership skills within school environments and within their communities, while promoting environmental conservation and behaviour change. Students can join FirstWave and track their conservation efforts in relation to other schools in the province. Who will collect the most water drops in FirstWave?
